The IMRG have just released their predictions for Christmas Day online sales and they’re nothing short of staggering.

With £186.5 million pounds being expected to  be spent and a further £367.8 million pounds on Boxing Day, sales should be rocketing for online shop owners whilst they tuck into Xmas dinner themselves. A total increase of 26% on last year.

Maximise your share on Christmas & Boxing Day

There’s no need to miss out on your share of the turkey. Set up your email campaigns now, and set them to send on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Do this now so they don’t get forgotten in the whirlwind rush of the last few days before Christmas.

Consider Facebook display advertising. Christmas Day last year saw Facebook with more visits than Google as Facebookers logged on to wish their friends and loved ones Happy Christmas.

If you’ve got limited customer service over Christmas Day and the bank holidays, email your customers wishing them Happy Christmas and informing them of this, they’ll thank you for it rather than spend hours in a queue.

Have your onsite promotion creative ready and waiting to go live on Christmas Day, the last thing you want to do is burn the turkey because your’re managing your website.

With only 5 days to go, we’ll raise our glasses to an excellent Christmas trading period.

Happy Christmas from the dotCommerce team.
